I would listen to them, offer another way of viewing the problem and leave them feeling a bit calmer and stronger. So when looking for a career change, I thought I’d develop my natural talents. I have been training as a Psychotherapist for 4 years now at Regents College in London.
I knew very early on that I wanted to specialise and the one area I found myself constantly interested in was eating issues. I have always been fascinated in the latest diet and nutrition advice, always wanting to be one stone lighter myself! I am often appalled by TV programmes addressing overeating, and how simplistic and insensitive people are about such complex problems. My special interest is in overeating and obesity and how it is becoming an epidemic in our society. There are so many new ideas about food and health but so little being discussed about the psychological barriers that stop us moving forward; all these issues can be discussed here at WeightMatters.
After a few years of poor health I now see food very differently. The focus of my eating is now on my health and energy levels, and not whether I can fit into my jeans! I need to be healthy and full of energy to keep up with my kids and focus on my career. This is so much more important to me now than sticking to a restricted diet. Finding this new approach to food has allowed me to be so much more relaxed and I feel stronger and healthier than I have for years. I would be delighted to help you explore how you view food and develop new ways of thinking about your eating habits. Together we can discover a balanced approach that works for you. I look forward to hearing your story.
