I have always been a keen generalist, interested in holistic care, delving deeper to get a true picture of what is going on. I used to do health and fitness assessments for BUPA which allowed me to do more in depth tests than were available on the NHS and spend time exploring clients' concerns and giving tailored advice. I am an experienced GP having qualified in 2000.
In 2009, I settled in the Cotswolds and became an NHS GP partner locally. I have particular interests in palliative care, mental health, wellness and nutrition - e.g. reversing Type 2 diabetes, fertility, women’s and children’s health. I am Practice Lead for Transgender healthcare. I am also training to be a Stott Pilates instructor. I work for an out of hours company doing remote triage work also.
I have been building on my interest and skills in Lifestyle Medicine and joined the British Society of Lifestyle Medicine. I have also attended the 'Prescribing Lifestyle Medicine' RCGP accredited course run by Dr R Chatterjee and colleagues and also 'The Future of healthcare is Lifestyle Medicine' run by Inspired Medics. I am now putting all my skills and knowledge into practice with WeightMatters in my medical health coaching role.
When not working, I can be found spending time with my family. I have 3 children and 2 step children. We have a lively Field Spaniel and an allotment. I also enjoy cooking and entertaining. I love doing Pilates and Spin. I am learning to play Golf...slowly!
