I am a Counselling Psychologist registered with the Health Care Professions Council and a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society. I completed my training while living in Germany and the United States where I honed an eclectic holistic strengths-based approach to counselling. I received training in humanistic, cognitive behavioural and brief therapies.
I have worked extensively within a culture of trauma-informed care and understand the impact of adverse experiences. I worked with a diverse range of clients experiencing multiple challenges always with a view to guiding the individual to be the best version of themselves.
To ensure ongoing development in the field of counselling psychology, I undertake regular training in response to my clients’ needs and the continued evolution of my practice. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing to assist clients in finding freedom from trauma and releasing the compulsion to continue unhealthy practices. I believe that everyone has the capacity to recover and my role is to support you to discover the way.
From my own experiences in counselling, I recognise how vital trust and support are in the relationship. Acknowledging that you are the expert on your life, I work on joining with you on your journey to achieve the goals that are important to you.
I create a safe environment where you can gain insight into what role food is playing in your life, explore your emotions, thoughts and behaviours, learn to detach from destructive habits and explore alternative ways to manage.
I know from my personal challenges the release that comes from unlocking the chains that bind when issues with food are present. I will work with you on finding a new healthy way to be in relationship with food.
