Something About Me

I love working with people, communicating with them and in creating strong and trusting relationships which I believe are the magic ingredients of successful therapy.   I worked for many years in the body conscious Fashion industry and gained a unique insight into working alongside models who were in need of not only professional guidance, but more importantly, emotional support in a world that could feel overwhelming.

Social media can dictate how our bodies should look, what food we should eat, which can make it feel impossible to live up to the ‘ideal’ image.  This can sometimes make us feel not good enough, self-conscious or perhaps deficient in some way, it can encourage us to compare ourselves and to make us feel that we are coming up short with no idea of how to fix ourselves. Therapy can help to lift the lid on any internal struggles that we might be facing, to ease the pressure and to help build a healthy self-esteem, self-acceptance, and to learn how to love ourselves for who we are and what we want to be.

Working as an Integrative Psychotherapist I can offer a more flexible and inclusive approach with my clients:  I am able to explore difficulties and painful feelings in a respectful, empathetic and non-judgemental manner and use a psychodynamic model to explore if unconscious past experiences are negatively impacting present day thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

I am also an experienced Bereavement Therapist, working not only with present and past losses, but also with other issues which can arise after losing a loved one, such as guilt, shame, anxiety and anger.  Recognising these uncomfortable and difficult feelings through therapy can help to make sense of a strange, new and unfamiliar reality. I have worked individually with Clients, and in group settings with those that are experiencing complex and historic bereavement and struggling to make sense of their lives without their loved one.

My own life experiences have given me a great insight into why people need a counselling relationship for support at certain times in their lives and how important and helpful it is to engage in a talking therapy. I am a great communicator; I love, and take pride in my clinical work and in the ultimate wellbeing of my clients.
