USING GLP-1s WELL – WHAT CHANGES, AND WHAT STILL NEEDS SUPPORT

GLP-1 medications can change appetite and fullness cues, but the day-to-day experience can still feel unpredictable – especially with side effects, smaller portions, emotional eating patterns, and worries about maintenance. This is where a personalised, multidisciplinary team helps you stay consistent and protect long-term outcomes.

What GLP-1s can help with

  • Reduced appetite and earlier fullness
  • For many people, quieter “food noise”
  • More mental space to plan and follow through

What often still needs tailored support

  • Side effects that disrupt eating (nausea, constipation, reflux, low appetite)
  • Protein, nutrients and muscle protection with smaller portions
  • Emotional or reactive eating that isn’t driven by hunger
  • Structure for maintenance and confidence if medication changes over time

Our role is to support you in optimising your outcomes alongside your prescriber – with a plan that adapts as your appetite, side effects and goals evolve.

FAQs – GLP-1 Wraparound Support

If you are still unsure, you might find these FAQs helpful. Please book a discovery call, and we can answer any further questions you have.

I’m already on a GLP-1 medication. Is this still relevant?

Yes. This pathway is designed for people already using GLP-1 medication who want clearer structure around nutrition, side effects, emotional eating patterns, muscle protection and long-term maintenance.

What happens in the free 20-minute discovery call?

It’s a confidential fit check. We’ll understand where you are on your GLP-1 journey, what’s challenging, and what you want to achieve. We’ll explain the support options and recommend the most suitable next step.

Do you prescribe Wegovy, Mounjaro or Ozempic?

No. We do not prescribe GLP-1 medications and we don’t replace your prescriber. We provide nutrition, behaviour change and therapy-led support to complement your existing medical care.

How does this work alongside my prescriber or GP?

We support the lifestyle and behavioural side of treatment and can collaborate with your clinician where appropriate. With your consent, we can share relevant information to support joined-up care.

Will you advise me on starting, changing or stopping my GLP-1 medication?

No. Decisions about starting, adjusting or stopping medication remain with you and your prescribing clinician. Our role is to support nutrition, habits and psychological patterns so you can stay consistent and safe.

What happens in the first two weeks?

You’ll complete the initial assessments relevant to your needs (nutrition / health coaching / therapy). From this, we build a personalised plan that fits your lifestyle and supports steadier progress.

What should I eat on GLP-1 medications?

There isn’t one single “GLP-1 diet,” but most people do best with a simple structure that prioritises protein, fibre, hydration and nutrient quality, especially when appetite is reduced. We tailor this to your routine, preferences and side effects, so you can eat consistently without guesswork.

How can you help with nausea, constipation, reflux or very low appetite?

Digestive side effects are common and can disrupt eating and routine. We help you build practical strategies (meal timing, food choices, hydration/fibre structure and “safe foods”) so you can stay nourished and consistent – while your prescriber remains the right person for medication decisions or worsening symptoms.

What about bloating or “sulphur burps” – can you help?

These symptoms come up frequently and can be uncomfortable or worrying. We help you adjust food choices, timing and hydration strategies to reduce disruption, and we’ll guide you on when to speak to your prescriber if symptoms are severe, persistent or worsening.

How do I protect muscle and get enough protein on GLP-1s?

With smaller portions, it’s easy to under-eat protein and lose strength. We build a realistic, protein-first plan and routines that support muscle protection and energy, tailored to your appetite, lifestyle and training capacity.

Is hair loss normal on GLP-1 medications?

Some people notice hair shedding during weight loss, often linked to reduced food intake, rapid weight change or nutritional gaps rather than the medication itself. We help you protect nutrition quality (especially protein and key nutrients) and sense-check whether your situation needs medical review.

What if I still struggle with emotional eating while on GLP-1?

That’s common, and it doesn’t mean you’re “failing.” GLP-1s may change appetite, but emotional eating is often driven by stress, fatigue, learned coping patterns or restriction-rebound loops. We work on underlying drivers and build a flexible structure that prevents “all-or-nothing” spirals.

Read more: GLP-1 + emotional eating

Can you help if I have binge-eating patterns?

Yes, in a safe and ethical way. We often combine stabilising nutrition with therapy-led approaches that reduce triggers and strengthen emotional regulation. If symptoms suggest a higher-risk eating-disorder picture, we’ll recommend the most appropriate specialist pathway.

How do you help with maintenance and fear of regain (especially if medication changes)?

We build long-term structure from the start: routines that survive stress and travel, flexible eating that doesn’t rebound, and a maintenance plan you can rely on as treatment evolves.
