Maybe a way to encourage healthy eating whilst not taking away peoples enjoyment of food is through visual stimulation …

Research:

It has been found that looking at a picture of food can determine the taste we experience from the food we are actually eating. The research was carried out at the Nestlé Research Center in Switzerland.

It found that those who participated enjoyed more pleasant tastes to the food they were eating when they were shown images of high calorie food before they ate, and when they were shown low calorie options before eating reported lower levels of taste enjoyment.

This research revealed unknown interactions in the brain of visual-gustatory sensory involved with food enjoyment.

The study shows the importance that visual stimulation could be in having a more nutritional healthy diet.
