MDT in Disordered Eating Management

Our Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) management of complex disordered eating focuses on a collaborative approach that primarily integrates psychological therapy and nutrition counselling. 

This specialised strategy aims to address the intricate emotional and behavioral factors contributing to disordered eating patterns. Here’s an overview:

Therapy

  1. Address the emotional and psychological aspects of disordered eating, such as underlying trauma, anxiety, or depression
  2. Offer therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Inegrative Psychotherapy or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), to help clients modify harmful eating habits and develop healthier coping mechanisms.
  3. Focus on identifying and managing emotional triggers associated with disordered eating behaviors.
  4. Promote long-term adherence to healthier eating patterns through ongoing psychological therapy.

Nutrition

  1. Develop individualised meal plans that reflect the client’s health needs, preferences, and any cultural considerations.
  2. Provide education on balanced diets, portion control, and intuitive eating to promote a healthier relationship with food.
  3. Assist with meal guidance and help clients understand their nutritional requirements without triggering disordered behaviors.

Rebalance Programme

Our multi-disciplinary programme includes:

Therapy
4 x 50-minute sessions

Nutrition
Initial 90-minute session
Followed by 2.5 hours of flexible support

Your therapist and nutritionist will collaborate over your treatment and care.

After your initial sessions included in the programme have been used up, you can discuss with your team if you need further support.
