We understand how a problematic sleep can have a huge impact on your physical and emotional wellbeing, and we specialise in diagnosing and treating all aspects of sleep health to overcome;

  • Daytime tiredness
  • Snoring
  • Sleep Apnoea
  • Insomnia
  • Sleep Inertia
  • REM Behaviour Disorder
  • Parasomnias

HOW THE SLEEP DISORDER CLINIC CAN SUPPORT YOU

The best place to start any new journey is where you are now. An assessment of your sleep health is essential for us to identify which areas need improvement. A sleep assessment gives us a baseline to work from.

Our sleep study requires you to sleep with our specialist equipment enabling us to monitor different aspects of your sleep architecture. Our sleep studies can be conducted at home in your own bed unsupervised, or in The Langham Hotel, London under the supervision of our highly trained staff.

On completion of the study, your sleep data is analysed, and if we feel there are ways in which we can help you improve your sleep, we will liaise with your Weight Matters therapist to initiate a treatment plan moving forward. Sleep efficacy is our goal, as a good day always starts with a good night’s sleep.

Weight Loss and Sleep Apnoea

WeightMatters have been helping patients of The Sleep Disorders Clinic for many years to achieve weight loss to improve sleep. Excess weight is a major contributing factor to Sleep Disordered Breathing, particulty Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. Excess weight in many cases can lead to Obstructive Sleep Apnoea due to large neck sizes and fluid distribution.

Once treatment is in place for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea WeightMatters can prescribe a weight loss programme to not only improve your general health but also your Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. WeightMatters helped patients of The Sleep Disorders Clinic not only reduce the severity of their Obstructive Sleep Apnoea but also cure it.

TREATMENT FOR SLEEP APNOEA

CPAP

Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) is the gold standard treatment for Obstructive Sleep Apnoea. Sleep Apnoea is the process of the upper airway partially or fully closing, often leading to snoring and pauses in breathing, resulting in a highly fragmented sleep. CPAP supports the airway by providing normal room air at higher pressure, splinting the airway open, controlling the snoring and Sleep Apnoea. The Sleep Disorders Clinic provides a comprehensive CPAP treatment plan with frequent structured reviews to ensure your CPAP journey is as smooth as possible. Our CPAP service is led by our expert Sleep Physiologists.

Pre Surgical Sleep Studies

Surgery and general anaesthetics are serious procedures. Our pre surgical sleep studies help make them safer. Our pre-surgical sleep studies help identify and quantify the presence of any sleep disordered breathing. If further management is required to make your surgery safer these will be explained.

Insomnia

Insomnia is the most common sleep problem and at least half of the population will experience it at least once in their life. Insomnia can present in a variety of ways; difficulty getting to sleep, difficulty maintaining sleep and it can last for a night or even years.

The Sleep Disorders Clinic provides a Sleep Physician led treatment programme. Initial assessment helps identify the root of the problem. Insomnia can be caused by an organic medical problem and a Physicians assessment and medications review is essential.

The Insomnia Programme involves a weekly session for 6-8 weeks with programme tailored towards your Insomnia issue. Over the programme your Insomnia will be broken down into 3 separate segments; Predisposing factors, Precipitating factors and perpetuating factors. Treatment will focus on an individualised treatment plan on each that is personal to you. As everyone’s insomnia is slightly different, everyone’s treatment pathway is slightly different.

Consultations

Working with your WeightMatters practitioner, your particular history will be discussed and your consultation will be directed to the right professional for you. Whether that’s a Sleep Physician or a Sleep Physiologist.
